Himachal Pradesh, Kinnaur district, India.

Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh in India has one of the most beautiful places. The district is full of  snow covered mountains and  river Sutlej flows through it. The mountain ranges are Zanskar, Himalayas and Dhauladhar. Sangla valley, Chitkul, Kalpa and Reckong Peo are some of the places worth visiting. Reckong Peo is district head quarters of Kinnaur district. Chitkul is the last Indian village before China border. The border is about 90 kms away from the village. Chitkul does not have ATMs, fuel pump or hospitals. It is snow covered November onwards. It is preferred to stay in Sangla Valley and drive down to Chitkul. Kalpa has the best view of  Kinner Kailash mountain which is Lord Shiva's abode. It has a Shivling on one of its peak and  Parvati kund, a religious lake is also visible on the mountain.Reckong Peo has a big market place which sells good quality dry fruits and the famous Kinnauri Rajma (Red beans). Sangla valley or Baspa valley is a major town with facilities such as hotels, ATMs, fuel pump, market etc.
It is recommended to stay at Hotel Prakash Regency at Sangla Valley and Hotel Kinner Kailash belonging to HPTDC at Kalpa.
